Peer Review

Peer Review

  • All manuscripts submitted to the journal and falling within its scope are peer reviewed. Manuscripts outside the scope or not complying with the guidelines are returned to the author without review, with an explanation.
  • The journal uses double-blind peer review: reviewers do not know the identity of the author and vice versa.
  • After registration, the editors carry out an initial check of each manuscript for scope, formatting and improper borrowing within 20 working days.
  • Reviewers are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief from among the Editorial Board and external experts. A reviewer must be a recognized specialist in the subject of the manuscript and have publications on it within the last three years. Authors, co-authors, their supervisors and colleagues from the same department cannot act as reviewers. Papers by members of the Editorial Board are sent to external reviewers only.
  • The review assesses relevance, novelty, soundness of conclusions and use of sources and literature, and ends with one of the following recommendations: accept; accept after revision; re-review after revision; reject. Reviews are completed within 30 days.
  • The editors send the author a copy of the review (without the reviewer’s name) or a reasoned rejection. The revised version is submitted together with a response to the reviewer’s comments. In case of conflicting reviews, an additional reviewer is appointed.
  • The final decision on publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief (Editorial Board) on the basis of the reviews.
  • Reviews are kept by the editorial office for five years. Copies of reviews are provided to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation upon request.
  • Peer review is confidential: reviewers may not use the manuscript or share it with third parties.
