New Hermes. Bulletin of Classical Archaeology, Ancient History and Medieval Studies (Novyi Germes. Vestnik klassicheskoi arkheologii, antikovedeniya i medievistiki) is a peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to the history, archaeology and culture of the Ancient World and the Middle Ages. It has been published since 2007.

Publisher: St. Alexis Hermitage (Svyato-Alekseevskaya Pustyn), the United Museums of St. Alexis Hermitage, N. A. Chistyakova Cabinet of Antiquity. In cooperation with: the Institute for the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IHMC RAS) and the Department of the History of Ancient Greece and Rome, Institute of History, St. Petersburg State University.

Aims and scope. The journal publishes original research papers, scholarly reviews, book reviews and source publications in the following fields:

• general history of the Ancient World and the Middle Ages: political, social and religious history of ancient Greece, the Hellenistic states, Rome, Byzantium and medieval Europe;
• classical archaeology, above all the archaeology of the ancient Northern Black Sea region, the Cimmerian Bosporus and the Caucasus: numismatics, epigraphy, toreutics, pottery, funerary monuments;
• history of ancient religions and mythology, Greek–barbarian interaction;
• classical philology and medieval literature in their historical and cultural context;
• history of classical scholarship and archaeology in Russia and abroad.

The journal covers the Russian research fields 5.6.2 General History and 5.6.3 Archaeology (historical sciences).

Peer review. All manuscripts within the scope of the journal undergo double-blind peer review (see Peer Review).

Languages: Russian and English; papers in other European languages are also accepted. Every paper has an abstract, keywords and references in both Russian and English.

Frequency: 4 issues per year; issues may be published as double issues (Nos. 1–2, 3–4). Print run: 200 copies. Format 162×229 mm.
